  • House flies: lay 500+ eggs in their short 15–30 day life.
  • Fruit flies: complete a generation in 8 days at 80°F.
  • Drain flies: breed in the gelatinous film inside drains.

Habitat

  • Garbage cans, dumpsters, compost bins.
  • Pet waste, decaying organic matter, overripe produce.
  • Sink and floor drains, condensate pans, mop buckets.

Behavior

  • Vomit digestive enzymes onto food to liquefy it.
  • Drawn to light, CO₂, and odor plumes.
  • Most active in warm daylight hours.
